Faculty Profiles

Steve Melis
Stephen Melis, CMT has been a professional body worker practicing in
Boulder, Colorado for the last eight years. For four years, Stephen
served as a core faculty member at the Boulder College of Massage
Therapy. As a member of the science department, Stephen taught and
helped develop several courses in the following areas: structural
kinesiology, clinical kinesiology, sports massage, treatment oriented
massage, and advanced treatment oriented massage. In his private
practice, Stephen's experience as a former NCAA swimmer and Ironman
triathlete has helped him successfully treat and enhance the performance
of many local athletes. As a body worker, Stephen is known for his great
knowledge and superb hands-on skills.

 


Brian Glotzbach

Brian Glotzbach has been on the staff of the Atlanta Falcons (pro football) for the past 7 years, the staff massage therapist in the Atlanta Braves training room for the 1999-2001 seasons and now for the Atlanta Hawks in the 2003 and forward into 2004.   In addition to teaching the 100 hour Clinical Sports Massage Program at the Body Wisdom Massage School, Brian has taught with Whitney Lowe for 7 years and is a senior staff member in the Clinical Massage Program at the Atlanta School of Massage.  Brian received his massage training at the Atlanta School of Massage and has a Masters degree in Sports Medicine from Georgia State University.  Brian is co-owner of Body Mechanics Sports Massage Therapy in Atlanta where he specializes in specific injury massage therapy.  His future aspirations include completing his Ph.D. in Biomechanics.

 

Diane Goodson
Diane Goodson, LMT, has been on a journey of personal growth for many years.  It was inevitable that bodywork would become part of that process through studies with Spectrum Seminars, The Body Wisdom Institute and The Body Wisdom Massage Therapy School.  Throughout the 90's Diane studied bodywork and massage and has since created a successful private practice in addition to her work at two retirement centers in the Des Moines area and her volunteer work at Hospice of Central Iowa.  She teaches both our Therapeutic Massage Series Level 3, Deep Tissue, Positional Release, European Spa Techniques and our popular Geriatric Massage course.  By combining her love of personal growth, a nurturing style along with her knowledge of massage, she is able to offer a truly holistic approach to her classes.


Michael DeWitt, D.C.:
Michael is owner of his chiropractic clinic in Minneapolis and has developed SmmartTM, a unique bodywork approach, combining various techniques and many years of experience as a chiropractor and body worker. Michael has a passion for teaching human anatomy with humor and joy, both of which are important values in his life in general. He enjoys people, is active in sports and is an award winning solo bagpiper.
 

Shinzo Fujimaki:
Shinzo was born in Japan and has practiced Shiatsu since he was a child.  In addition to extensive Shiatsu training with some of the world's foremost teachers, Shinzo has attained a black belt in the Japanese martial art of Aikido and numerous awards for Japanese calligraphy.  He brings the spirit of the Japanese arts to his teaching style and his classes are famous for their emphasis on individualized high-quality instruction in an atmosphere of openness and trust.

 

Cate Miller:
Cate is a graduate of the University of Buffalo in New York with a degree in philosophy and education and is a graduate of Educating Hands School of Massage in Miami Florida where she also taught from 1982-1986.  She currently teaches Neuromuscular Therapy at the Body Wisdom School and the Florida School of Massage in Gainesville where she has been an instructor since 1986.  Cate uses her intuitive abilities in both her teaching and private practice and greatly encourages the development of this type of insight in her students.

 

Mary Reis:
A licensed massage therapist since 1993, Mary maintains a private practice in a Chiropractic office and teaches at the Florida School of Massage.   Since 1994, Mary has taught in the 200-hour Advanced Sports Therapy Training at FSM, and in other workshops that focus on soft-tissue injury assessment and treatment. In the classroom she draws on years of experience as a competitive and recreational athlete, massage therapist and instructor to teach biomechanical concepts, massage techniques, self-care and client management. Her organizational skills and gentle nature lend to a structured and supportive environment, emphasizing clarity and understanding.

 

Ellen Roseland:
Ellen has been a Jin Shin Do acupressure trainer since 1984 when she brought this body mind healing modality to the Salt Lake City, Utah area. She has taught Jin Shin Do for 20 years including four years at the Utah College of Massage, the Awakening Spirit Massage College and at Body Wisdom, Inc. since 1999. Ellen maintains a private practice working with clients to integrate body mind and spirit. In addition to Jin Shin Do she has also studied Reflexology, Reiki, Zero Balancing, Visionary Cranio-Sacral, and a variety of modalities for Process Oriented Psychology. Ellen brings a wealth of understanding, depth and insight to her work as a result of her studies, private practice, meditation, yoga and 25 years of motherhood.

 

Pete Whitridge
Pete is former Assistant Director of the Florida School of Massage in Gainesville.  He teaches "Myofascial Components of Pain" workshops throughout the Southeast, as well as Florida law, ethics, and business building.  His experience as an EMT, a CPR instructor, and twelve years of teaching have given him many insights into the learning process.  His students will receive individual attention and feedback and are encouraged to have fun.   Individual learning styles are assessed, and visual and kinesthetic aids are utilized to help bring the information in Pete's classes alive. Pete completed a four year term on the Florida Board of Massage Therapy, serving two years as Chairman.  

 

Karen Ball, LMT
Karen has been a licensed practitioner of bodywork since 1983. She was trained and certified by the Reflexology Association of Canada as an instructor in 1985. After graduating from the Florida School of Massage in Gainesville, she was invited to join the teaching faculty there, and has remained a vital contributor to the school’s massage training program ever since.  She currently teaches Reflexology (since 1989), Boundaries and Ethics (1993), and Communication Skills (1995) in their main licensing program.
 

Dianna J. Berry
Dianna J. Berry LMT, currently heads up our Massage Business and Marketing Program.  Her background as owner operator of her own Wellness Center called “Mind Your Body” in McGregor IA that includes not only her own Orthopedic Massage practice specializing in back, neck and shoulder conditions but also brings together a host of other alternative health practitioners and professionals teaching Tai Chi, Stretching, Heal Your Wrist Pain, Heal Your Neck Pain, Purpose Driven Life, The Artists Way and a variety of other classes that rotate every month. Treatments available in her center include: Acupuncture, Hot and Cold Stone Massage, Reflexology, Therapeutic Massage, Reiki, Zone Therapy and Spa treatments of all kinds including Herbal Wraps, Face Massage and Exfolliation.  Dianna is pioneering a program for corporations in an effort to reduce workmen’s compensation cases and "recordable incidents" with an eye to decreasing their w/c rates and maintaining or improving their ISO ratings, while improving employee moral.  In addition, Dianna has put together and implemented massage and chair massage programs for some of the biggest corporations in America. Dianna has an unsurpassed passion for helping launch the careers of budding massage students and graduates of Body Wisdom and is involved in constantly upgrading and improving the Body Wisdom Massage Marketing System.



Jim Dorr
Jim Door, LMT has been a teacher at the college level since 1984 at USC and later as an instructor with LaStone Therapy Inc for five years. He has been teaching for the Body Wisdom School for the last two years heading up our Hot and Cold Stone Massage program. Jim has since developed an advanced approach to Hot and Cold Stone Therapy, expanding the LaStone treatments and pioneering the use of Jade stones in addition to the standard Basalt and Marble. Jim weaves his wealth of experience in various bodywork modalities in with his extensive background in Stone Therapies to form a seamless learning experience that is appreciated by all who have the opportunity to learn from him. He is known for both his passion for teaching and his attention to detail in passing along the art of Hot and Cold Stone Therapy to his many students here at Body Wisdom.

 

Pat Crozier
Pat Crozier LMT teaches our Prenatal, Lymphatic and Aromatherapy Massage classes here at Body Wisdom.  Pats brings to her teaching her training as a nurse and midwife, specializing in the midwifery aspect and her background working extensively with tribal ladies in Africa, delivering over 400 babies in their homes, often under quite primitive conditions (no bed, running water, electricity, dried mud floors etc) and running large pre and post natal clinics where we she did one-on-one and small group teaching.  Pat has done extensive research, study, training and practice in the fields of both Aromatherapy and Lymphatic Massage presently works as a massage therapist specializing in Aromatherapy, Lymphatic Drainage and Prenatal.  She maintains both a private practice as well as working for a local rural hospital.  Her strengths are a love and compassion for people in general and, because of her midwifery experience, she feels especially bonded with pregnant women.


Rhett Hatfield:
Rhett brings a 25 year background in massage, bodywork and body-centered techniques to his work as practitioner, instructor and workshop leader. Rhett serves as Director of Education at Body Wisdom. He has extensive background in Massage and Bodywork, Orthopedic Massage, Process Oriented Bodywork, Breathwork, Cranio-Sacral Therapy, Shiatsu, Traditional Thai Massage, Therapeutic Imagery and Dialogue, Body-Centered Hypnotherapy, Somatics, and Executive Life Coaching.
