Positional Release Massage
Positional Release is the original
osteopathic modality that inspired
the development of 'Orthobionomy' TM. The work is gentle on
both the
practitioner and the client, and highly effective at relieving everything from
recent soft tissue trauma to long term postural imbalances.
Positional Release is not a fixed sequence of massage
techniques, but rather an approach that supports and amplifies the bodies own natural
abilities to rebalance and heal itself. Practitioners will learn how to listen to and
follow the subtle preferences of positioning that assist someone to shift from
patterns of pain and contraction to patterns of ease and relaxation.
The results can be immediate and complete relief from pain, improved mobility, and
increased energy flow throughout the body. Assessment skills to identify which muscles are
out of balance and how posture and alignment are affected are integrated in every session.
Common problems such as rotator cuff syndrome, sciatica, whiplash and
thoracic outlet syndrome are treated through gentle repositioning, cradling and supporting
the body to 'unwind' from it's neurological memory. There is a strong intuitive component
to this work and it can easily be integrated into other forms of massage or
emotional facilitation work.
The work which is done without oil on clients who may
be fully clothed is also appropriate for nurses, chiropractors, psychotherapists and
sports medicine specialists.
Prerequisites: Some previous training in anatomy is
recommended.
