The State of Iowa and the National
Certification Board both require 50 Hours in-class hours of
Physiology and 40 in-class hours of Pathology.
In this
comprehensive introduction to physiology you will learn about the
systems of the body, how they function and how each relates
specifically to your practice of massage. We have organized our
training so that after you have received an understanding of a
particular body system such as the circulation system, you then go
on to learn the pathological conditions and disorders related to
that system.
You will learn about the various conditions, including
the etiology and progression of the disease, signs and symptoms, the
standard medical approach to diagnosis and treatment and the
indications and contraindications for massage.
Books and CD ROM’s:
Included in your course materials are two comprehensive books (over 1000
pages) with CD ROM’s and a complete home study work book.
Body Wisdom “Connections Center”
is a Black Board and WebCt based E-Learning environment that provides
dynamic book-specific supplements and other learning resources such as
content updates, web links, downloadable images, review questions, class
discussions and much more. Black Board and WebCt are used by thousands
of colleges and universities world wide and now Body Wisdom is bringing
that same level of E-Learning technology to its massage students.
On-line Tutoring
for Anatomy and Physiology:
When students are studying, doing homework or preparing for exams they
will have free, unlimited, live-access to an experienced on-line tutor
familiar with their text, who is prepared to help during designated
“Live-Hours.” Students and an e-instructor communicate by means of a
White Board via text messaging. During other (non-live) times, students
can submit questions and even assignments and reports for review, and
receive a reply usually within 24 hours. Each student has their own
password and archive to keep track of all their teacher-student
communications.
